Stubbington Manor Care Home Fire Alarm Commissioning

We commissioned a new fire alarm system at Stubbington Manor Care Home in Fareham, working alongside Alpha Electrical Midlands Ltd, who carried out the installation. The system is built around an Advanced MxPro 5 panel with three repeater panels, 340 Hochiki devices and an AirSense aspirating smoke detection system.

Why It Matters in a Care Home

In a care home, many residents need help to leave the building, and some cannot move at all without staff. The fire alarm has to tell staff exactly where a fire is, straight away, so they can follow the evacuation plan. That depends on clear zoning, accurate location text on every device and repeater panels where staff need them.

What We Did

• Tested every one of the 340 Hochiki devices and checked its location text on the panel
• Programmed and proved the full cause and effect across the building
• Commissioned the three repeater panels so staff see the same information wherever they are
• Commissioned and tested the AirSense aspirating system
• Measured alarm sound levels, including at the bedhead in residents’ rooms
• Checked standby batteries and handed over the certificates, zone plan and logbook

Working With Electrical Contractors

Alpha Electrical installed the cabling and devices, and we brought the system to life and certified it.
