Mr Central Heating Glasgow AOV Fire Alarm Interface
We connected and tested a new smoke vent system at Mr Central Heating, Hillington Park in Glasgow, working alongside ACD Electrical Ltd. The automatic opening vents (AOVs) run from a Smoke Vent Systems SCP500 control panel, and we linked that panel to the building’s main fire alarm through a Hochiki interface unit.
Why the Fire Alarm Link Matters
In a fire, smoke is the real danger. It fills escape routes fast and stops people seeing the way out. Smoke vents open automatically to let that smoke escape, so your staff and customers can reach the exits safely. They only work if they get a clear signal the moment the fire alarm goes off. The interface unit gives them that signal.
What We Did
• Connected the Hochiki interface unit between the main fire alarm and the smoke vent control panel
• Set up the fire alarm so a fire signal tells the vents to open
• Tested the full sequence, from an alarm at the fire panel to the vents opening
• Handed over the test results to the client
Working With Electrical Contractors
ACD Electrical handled the electrical work on site, and we made the link to the fire alarm and proved it works. It is a partnership that lets electrical contractors take on fire alarm and smoke vent projects with confidence.
