Heron Manor Care Home Fire Alarm Commissioning

We commissioned a new fire alarm system at Heron Manor Care Home in Fleet for Principle Care Homes, working alongside Alpha Electrical Midlands Ltd, who carried out the installation. The system runs on an Advanced MxPro 5 panel with four repeater panels and 400 Apollo XP95 devices, protecting all 62 bedrooms. It also links to the building’s ventilation system, so the ventilation responds automatically the moment the alarm activates.

Why It Matters in a Care Home

With 62 bedrooms, your staff need to know exactly where a fire is the second the alarm activates.

Four repeater panels put that information wherever staff are working, and accurate location text on all 400 devices sends them straight to the right room.

The link to the ventilation system matters too. The ventilation does the right thing in a fire without anyone having to touch it, leaving staff free to focus on residents.

What We Did

• Tested every one of the 400 Apollo XP95 devices and checked its location text on the panel
• Programmed and proved the full cause and effect across the building
• Integrated the third party ventilation system using peripheral relay cards, and proved every output
• Commissioned the four repeater panels so staff see the same information wherever they are
• Measured alarm sound levels in the staff and communal areas
• Checked standby batteries and handed over the certificates, zone plan and logbook

Working With Electrical Contractors

Heron Manor is the 60th care home we have completed with Alpha Electrical, including Stubbington Manor in Fareham. Alpha installed the cabling and devices, then we commissioned and certified the system for Principle Care Homes. It is a partnership that lets electrical contractors take on large fire alarm projects with confidence.
